Generating A Reading Plan

To create a Bible reading plan, select from the menu: File - New Reading Plan Template.  The following dialog box will appear:

  • Reading Plan Length - Allows the selection of the length of the reading plan.  (Suggested lengths: Entire Bible - 1 Year, New Testament - 4 Months, Proverbs - 1 Month or 31 Days)
  • Readings Divided By - Allows the reading assignments to be given by Chapters or by Verses.  Assignments by Verses make the assignments more even in length from day to day, but may end in the middle of a story.
  • Weekly Reading Days - Select the days of the week you will be reading from this plan.  If you study on Saturday and Sunday for sunday school, you may omit those days from your daily Bible reading plan.
  • Books Per Session - Allows up to 6 sections of the Bible to be read each reading assignment.
  • Bible Tree - This is how you select your reading assignments per section.

The above dialog box shows how a 9 month reading plan of three sections (Old Testament, Psalms, New Testament) with assignments separated by Bible verses and assigned only during the weekdays would be set up.

Selecting assignments in the "Bible Tree" is a little bit tricky, but described in the Help files for Sword Tamer.  To expand a "book" for a section like "Old Testament", just double-click.  To select a Bible book or section, select the section to be assigned in (in the Books Per Session box), then select the book or section using a right click.  If the book or section is already selected to the section, it will deselect the book or section.

When the plan is the way you want it, then select the "Save And Exit" button and name the template as shown in the dialog box below.

You have just created your own Bible reading plan.

The next lesson you will learn how to create your personalized reader environment.
